A Model 70 XTR Featherweight and Leupold VariX III 3.5x10x40 scope. Excellent condition. Is this combo worth $575?

Thanks.

Yes Randy, I'ld buy it. The scope alone is worth $400.

Yep, it's a pretty good deal. I really like the XTR Featherweights. I have one in 7x57 and would like to get one in .257 Roberts, to put under my Kahles 3-9. Mine has a 2.5-8 Vari-X III and has been teflon coated. I wouldn't even consider selling it for anything under $900 or so, and that's only if I really needed the money. (Of course, not many folks are likely to pay that for a used push-feed Winchester.) I'd think anything $700 or under, is a pretty good deal on that combo, if the condition is excellent.

JMHO. I see no particular value in a push feed vs. a CRF rifle in that caliber.

My XTR 7x57 is the most accurate rifle I own and it feeds perfectly reliably. In fact, the push feed in general is inherently more accurate than the CRF rifles. Remington 700s are push feeds, and they are by far the most frequently used factory actions in custom rifles.

If you are into big bore, dangerous game and plan to sell the rifle down the road, CRF would be the way to go as the resale market is zip for push feed dangerous game rifles. The reason? Search me. But everyone insists on CRF. It's a mantra.
