How many of you guys, no matter where you are now, shot at the Old San Gabriel Valley Gun Club Range, Fish Canyon, in Duarte California. How many of the old shooters did you know, some where greats and National Champions. Here's a few I remember: I know some of you will remember Jeff Orr, who used to run the Foothill Gunshop in the early 70's, he's the real instigator of this thread. Here's some of the Old Guys we remember: J. Wake Hunt, National and California Skeet Champion, Howard French, famed outdoor writer, Harry Sanford, gun designer, E. H. Stevens, my favorite, National Shotgun Champion, and of course the Purbaugh family. As you guys know the Old Club is gone now, and that's one of the many reasons Jeff and I now live in Arizona!! Heck we just thought this might be fun. I know Roger Bartsche will have something here. Regards to All Jerry NRA Benefactor Life Member

Spent a lot of time there and was heart broken when they shut it down. One of the employees shot himself in the head over the closing. He did it in front of Victoria and another female emploee. Many of us now shoot at the Angeles Range in little Tujunga. I live about 10 min. from Fish Canyon. roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

I used to shoot a lot at Angeles Crest, especially on the Silhouette range. I shot a few times at the San Gabriel range, long ago. Did a ton of shooting at the "public range" at Lytle Creek eons ago. A lot of cast .44 Mags went down range there. Aut vincere aut mori

Roger: I just called and told Jeff about the sad story of the guy shooting himself. Sad! z1r: I also, used to shoot up in Lytle Creek, my 2 sons did most of their learning to shoot, up in Lytle Creek. At that time I lived in Rialto, after work we load up the kids, guns and ammo, and drive up there for a shoot. That was before they turned it into somekind of fiasco. We also used to shoot the High Power Matches, at the Upland club in Lytle Creek. Don't know if it is even still there. Here in Arizona, we can go just about anywhere in the dsesert to shoot, and we have some great gun clubs as well. Thanks for the responses. Jerry NRA Benefactor Life Member
