I have been thinking of this a long time. I already have a 300 H&H, but made the mistake of putting it on a switch barrel mod 70, and I keep the 375 barrel attached.

Several times I thought about just getting rid of all the 300 H&H stuff I have, dies brass etc., but just didn't. A week or so ago, I picked up a Mauser bottom metal unit that's 300 H&H length, and I ordered from Brownells the Wisner follower and a brand new magazine spring, so now I'm in business. I already have a Charles Daly receiver, and an older Mark X magnum bolt assembly (non-speedlock), a #1300 Loather Walther stainless .308 barrel blank, a NECG steel trigger, and a Gentry safety. I have the Weaver steel bases, Warne rings, and Leupold scope too. Assemble all that and all I need is a stock.

It's funny how sometimes getting the one missing part, the bottom metal, just brings it all together. I tried for a long time, with sufficient patience I thought, to get a unit from Blackburn, but didn't succeed. Evidently he is out of production now.

Anyway, hopefully I can post some pictures later.

Thought I might share this info with you to get you guys who like the 300 H&H going with your input.

The 300 H&H still remains one of my favorite calibers and with the 200 gr. Partition its a real killer...I have been shooting mine since I was in high school and its been to the four corners of the world with me...

I was once accused of owning a stainless steel rifle as all know I abhor such things, but it was just my old 300 H&H that pretty much void of blue and the stock looks like drift wood I have been told...

I used to have custom a 300HH. I had Hill Country Rifles build it. It was a mod. 70 pre war action with Blackburn bottom metal and #3 Lilja barrel, 24". I had them stock it with a Mcmillan, Bridges (I believe it's J E Bridges that designed the stock) stock. With Talley rings, mounts and a 3.5X10 Leupold the rifle weighed 8 1/2 lbs.

It was a joy to carry. A little weight forward but I like that ...

If I ever have another small caliber "magnum" cartridge it would be the 300HH..........

A friend of mine took his old 1936 pre war to the eastern cape last year. I believe he was loading Rel. 22 and 180gr. Hornady interlocts. Shot everything from kudu on down without a hiccup...

I shot the Federal factory with 180 Barnes in mine. Sub moa groups and one antelope....

I've always wanted to build one on a Ruger #1S. Maybe find an older one in 30-06 & rechamber? Seems a classie casrtridge should go in a classie rifle.

My uncle just picked a Remington 721 Deluxe in 300 H&H. Says it is beauty. Hope to see it soon.

I greatly regret ever selling my two...one was a Rem M700 Classic, and I regret that one but don't sorrow every night over it. The other was a Pre-'64 Model 70 "Bullgun". I really do suffer some woe over getting rid of that one. One afternoon in '79-'80, Cmdr. Jim Jamieson and I shot more than 30 consecutive bullseyes with it at Sarcee range in Calgary, trading it off between us every 10 rounds or so.

Those M-70 .300's really do feed slick too.....

Great gun.....mine shoots very small groups with 200 grain A-Frames.
