How about a 6.5 Remington Magnum? It's built for the short action and can shoot bullets that range from 85 grains to 140 grains.

The 7x57, a/k/a 7mm Mauser, has killed every game animal on the planet, including hefalump. Pleasant to shoot. So much load data available you'll never get to all of it.

Two of the small bores that I own are the 257 wby. and the 270 Win. all the rest are med and big bore
