I recently saw a program on TV about snipers in Britain. They mentioned a rifle that chambered the 338 Super Magnum. I tried to find some info online, but didn't get anything useful. Can anyone here shed some light? Maybe compare it to other 338s so I have some idea what sort of firepower is involved? Any load data would also be appreciated, just to satisfy my curiosity. Thanks, GFP

It must be the .338 Lapua. For medium range the .308 Win is used. Perhaps someone will chime in with the name of their gunmaker.

Probably .338 Lapua. This cartridge is used by the Britts.

I kind of suspected as much. What's the point of calling it a 338 Super Magnum? Or maybe I misunderstood. Anyway, thanks for clearing this up for me.

Saw the show, they kind of screwed up the information. It is a 338 Lapua, the rifle was a Accuracy International model called the Super Magnum, or AWM for short. EDIT: http://www.snipercentral.com/pm_sm.htm [ 07-30-2003, 10:17: Message edited by: DanD ]
