BAR vs 750
I'm thinking .308Win for auto loaders, who out there has experience with both, anyone run a lot of rounds through them in one sitting, and how do they compare?

Deke.

the new 750 fixes most of the problems associated with the remmies.

lots of people love the BAR.

myself, i have seen the remmies shoot better groups.

oh, yeah, and a 3.5 or 2.5# trigger in a remmie is just 100 backs away .. can't be done in a bar

Might wanna run this by the 24hr campfire crew on the hunting rifle forum. Several gunsmith and shop owners that are still seeing probs with the 750's.

...on earth as it is in Texas

I've heard the old Remington auto loaders were for hunting and not for shooting a hell of a lot of ammo because the bolt would peen back the receiver recesses. In other words they aren't durable for high volume of fire. Just what I've heard.

High volume shooting sounds like a job for an AR-10 or an M1A to me. If it were me, I'd probably pick the AR-10, unless the black rifle asthetics turn you off. You can run 5 round magazines in it and its really not much different than a BAR and potentially very accurate.

Yup, they are using the AR 10 in the sandbox, but that is off topic here I reckon.

I have a friend he bought one about 7-8 month ago. Went back to Remington twice and then sold.IMO the Remington 750 is junk. I rather have a Remington 742 or even a Remington 740. Beautiful looking rifle but he had many problems. The first thing was it would not feed more the 2 rounds without jamming. Remington said that ever magazine has to be hand fitted to each rifle. The one thing that really ticked me off is that the rifle shot 2 feet low at a 100 yards with the scope adjusted as high as it would go.We started out with a leupold VXII 3x9 with leupold rings and bases. When that did not work he went out and bought a nikon scope and weaver rings and bases
. We had the same results.Ended up useing 2 automotive style washers to shim the scope base. They look real pretty under the scope base. They are about 20 thou. of a inch thick. There was other issues, but I'm sure you get the point.
