I'm pretty sure santa is going to bring me a fs in 9,3. I'm interested in this set up for my walking woods deer rifle because of the shortness of the package and the fact that it is in a great larger caliber. I'm wondering what the capabilities of the 9,3 are out of a shorter barrel. thanks turfman

Try to get Lapua ammo. The 286 grs Lapua Mega is a really blunt, locked core, bullet. Should be nice to 200 yds. Accuracy in my CZ 550 FS is 3 shots under 1". I am trying now S & B 286 grs RN. Winchesters ( Norma ) 286 grs Nosler Partition worked fine on Red Stag, but is expensive. There are lighter bullets, but I like the heavies. Take care about your scope! Field of view in lowest magnification should be over 12 m ( Meter ) at 100 m. Best scopes for driven hunts are ~ 32 m at 100 m. Have fun, Hermann

Woodleigh make a 320 gr soft nose that would be areal smasher, use lapua brass as it is the best and a good scope for your rig may be the 2.5x compact leupold or 1-4 leupold.

turfman: I get 2335 fps with the 286-grain Nosler Partition out of my Blaser's 22" barrel with 57 grains of IMR 4895, so you should be able to achieve around 2300 fps out of a 20" barrel.

I wanted it for the heavier bullets, but out of a 20" barrel I was wondering if the velocity would suffer a great deal. I don't want 2800fps with the 286's, but 22-2300 would be nice. I hand load and was hoping I could acheive that preformance. what do you guys get? turfman
