Took my old JC Higgins FN 30,06 to my smith yesterday, he took it back into the shop and came out 5 minits later with the trigger guard , witch had been badly bent and poorly repaired, looking just fine. So ,I told him to go ahead and reblue it, witch is the next step, and then I will have to decide what to do for a better stock Open to sugjestion here. I am not going hole hog on this one, I am thinking of an accurate innovations, as the web site says the will be inletting for the FN soon. I might go with a mcmillan or some kind of a synthetick, But I perfer walnut. I also looked at a beautiful custom sako he did in 7mm08, with a beautifully checkerd walnut stock that fit me like a glove, I would love to have it and I just might end up with it. BUT ! I have a old browning sako .243 that I could do in a similar fasion. I would do it in .260 with a walnut stock made from a blank of my choosing , shaped and checkerd like the one I held yesterday. I am planning to sell a rifle at a gunshow next weekend , and start the .260 project. I will have him start the rebarrel, and pick a stock blank send it out for turning and in about a year or so , I will have one wonderfull rifle. If I walik in the shop with my Browning sako and a wad of cash, I could end up with that 7mm08 instead , cause I just love it !!!...tj3006 freedom1st | ||
