Question for those that have used JES . . . when he ships the barreled action back after completing the reboring work does he send a tracking number or any shipping information or does the package just show up? Thanks.

He didn't with any of mine, but they showed up way quicker than I ever expected. I bet he would if asked. He does good work and is quick. I would sure use JESS again.

Thanks Daryl. I was just trying not to bug him since calls take away from his time at the bench. I will sit tight. I sent the barreled action two weeks ago this past Monday and he got it that Wednesday. Jesse said it would be about a week to get it done. Should be showing up soon enough now. Appreciate the response.

Got the barreled action back today. Mailed on September 12, returned on September 29. Certainly cannot complain about the turnaround time. Hope to shoot it in the next few days and will report back.

Took a JC Higgins (FN) that was in .30-06 but had a little pitting in the bore and had it punched out to .338-06. I can pretend it is a .318 WR. Big Grin

Cool.

I think my next Springfield build is gonna be .338/06, seems like a neat cartridge.

Have loaded up some 200 grain Accubonds to see how the rebore shoots. Hope to use it for deer season.

Let us know how it shoots? Sounds like JC Higgins will be a killin machine.

He did a Brno for me 8x57 to 9.3x62mm and I had it back in my hands in less than a week from the day I sent it to him. It was $225 including the return shipping. The work was excellent and so was the customer service before the actual job. He is easy to talk to and has good advice.

The job JES did for me was $225 as well including return shipping. Been playing around with the rifle since getting it back. Tried RL15 first but it did not seem to like that. Switched to IMR4064 and the results are more encouraging. Starting to experiment with different bullet weights now.

looking at sending him my 30-06 to rebore to 35 whelen, how do you guys handle the marking of the caliber on the barrel? Have another smith buff it out, remark, and cerakote?
