Scope Mounts:

Lightweight One-Piece Talley Low. These are cheap. Shooting the 160 gr. TTSX, recoil shoot not be a problem with the 3-9 X 40.

My Sightron should look great. Think I might paint the black stock Tan/Black webbed. Decent color.

Boyd's is now selling the finished JRS for $92.00

This means the finished stock can be shipped to Canada because it is under $100.00

Howas are good, i have one in 22-250 and another that i just built into a 416 Taylor(was 7mm rem mag). Someday the Taylor will most likely turn into a 416AR.

The 22-250 will someday become a 6x47Lap with heavy barrel and i will fit the Boyds thumbhole i have here ready Wink.

Just got my JRS laminate for my 500AR project yesterday, it is a Forest Camo design, like Seafire mentioned, very nice colours and am damn happy with it.

AR Corey,
A word of caution on the Boyd stocks. I bought 2 of them for a couple of different projects a couple of years back. The laminate ones. I was shocked at how heavy they were. If you are building a varmint rifle or a long range hunting rifle, this might be a bonus. However, if you are building a lightweight mountain rifle style, you will not be as happy with it. They are excellent stocks, well made and are exactly as advertised. Just the laminates are heavy. Come to think of it my pair of 673 Guide rifles in 6.5 and 350 are heavier than they should be because of the laminate stock. My Model 7 CDL 350 is way lighter with the walnut.

As far as the Talley mounts you showed, I picked up a Weatherby CFP this year and it came with a set of those mounts. They are are nice as one could want on any rifle. They are sleek and graceful. I think of it this way, they have just as many screws and the same size as the most expensive mounts so they should be as strong. Your next step in strength are the Nightforce or Leupold Mark 4 for picatinny rails.

Good luck with your project. I can say that you are thoroughly researching it and you should have a fine finished product because you are leaving no detail out!

For AR Corey--
How have your 338 WM 160TTSX fared? Tested any for penetration at impact speeds over 2800? I assume that you are loading up to 3300 or 3350 fps.

The laminate JRS Classic weighs 2 lbs 15 oz.

With the 5 pound barreled action, will make an 8 pound rifle. This is good for me. I agree, a mountain rifle would require a lighter stock.

I will try the Weatherby factory synthetic for a while. Need to get a hold of some red spider webbing. This paint job is black with red spider webbing.
