it, I am torn Zeiss Conquest, good scope, little money, a Kahles CL have one already and love it, or just go Swaro and call it good.

I am thinking 2.5x8x42 or 3x9x42

What say you

Don't overlook the VX3 in 2.5-8 or 3.5-10. I own both and think the glass is very good for the price....and the warranty is exceptional if I ever need it. We have had folks have more trouble getting service to repair/replace the excellent European optics if needed....

Cheers,

Dan

The Conquest is just flat out a great value in optics. The Swaro stuff is a nit better optically IME, but $ for $ the Conquest is hard to beat. I am going to a lot of the Conquest stuff now, especially on rough duty rigs where geeking up a scope is more likely.

On that rig it would be easy to justify the extra for the Swaro though......

A good 3-9x40 would be the best choice. My dad has a VX-II 3-9 on his super grade 30-06, and I've got a Burris 3-9 fullfield on my M77 270. These would be the minimums, and the real nice thing is the look very, very classy atop a rifle like that. A monster scope with all kinds of knobs and turrets and a 50mm objective just spoil the classic lines of the rifle, IMO. We've also got a couple of the Conquests in 3-9x40, and they're both absolutely perfect. My vote would be for either of those three.

Or, you could scrap the whole project and sell me the rifle... sofa

Get the best!

The new Swarovski Z6 series. 6 x variation in magnification. You can have the cake, and eat it, too. High magnification above 10 x and a field of view for driven hunts, if you want it - at a twist of your finger.

That all other qualities of this scopes are top notch, too, might accept the price.

Sidenote: as a .270 its mainstay is ( should be ) long range - so if above scope is too expensive, I would suggest a 3 - 9 x or 4 - 12 x , but with a 42 bell minimum.
