Given these choices what would you consider the toughest factory loaded bullet for the 280 Rem. and the best choice for elk and as a back-up for african plains game. (Assuming that my rifle shoots them all with the same accuracy.)Thanks.
140 gr. Failsafe 150 gr. Partition 160 gr. Accubond
I have taken 5 elk, 2 mule deer, 7 whitetails, 3 pronghorns, 1 kudu, one springbok, one mountain reedbok, one gemsbok and assorted monkeys and hogs with my M70 .280 using 150 grain Nosler Partitions. My gun groups them at about 2" at 100 yds but seems to kill what I shoot at.

The 140gr FS is probably the toughest, I haven't tried them in my .280. The 150grNP & 160grNAB are probably pretty close. I lean heavy for caliber & handload the 160grNP, but use the one that shoots best in your rifle.

I know all thes bullets will kill just fine. I guess I'm just looking for opinions on what would give me the most flexibilty and the best results in regards to shot angles and punching through shoulders in africa. Thanks for your responces.
My 280 loves the 140gr Federal Premium Accubond. But all I have used it on is Arkansas deerz and they are typically small deer. Less than 150lbs.

I think you will find the fialsafe penetrates a bit deeper but the 160grNP would give you more energy at impact w/ prett deep penetration as well. Realyy, you should be fine w/ any of the.

Of the three the 150 partition.....but I'd prefer a heavier bullet like the 160-175 grain range and in a partition or TBBC or Northfork style.
