I certainly agree that you should be able to better 31oo FPS with a 150-grain bullet in the 7 Mag. I have been able to get 3150 wiuth the 160-graier and 3050 with the 175 grain bNosler partition in mine, with safe pressures and accuracy.

As a matter of curiosity: I have a load for the 175-grain Nosler Partition bullet in mine (Ruger 1B w/26" tube) that produces 3050 FPS @ 10' from the muzzle. The same load in all respects, except using the 175-grain Remington Corelokt PSP bullet gives only around 2900, and if I use the Sierra 175 grain PSPBT, it drops to 2850! See how much difference just changing bullets can cause, even if they weigh the same??

I just got my 7mm ready for a boar hunt I'm going on. I was shooting 160gr bullets at 3030 fps and was pleased with the way my 7mm handled those rounds. Shot 3/4" group at 200yds.
I use H1000 powder for the 160gr bullets.

Ray,
Yup! Exactly!
But then you don't get to brag that your bullet was going really, really fast.
