I have one of the closeout Rem. 700 BDL stainless in both 7saum and 300saum. I really don't need either as I have a 7mag and 300wsm. I am considering taking one of the saum's and doing something else with it. Since I have never rechambered or rebarrelled anything before - I am looking for viable suggestions as to what I can make out of one of these rifles. A co-worker suggested a possible 25wsm conversion but I would like practical suggestions as to what would be actually possible.

Lots of stuff you can do, There have been a cople articles about 25 cal wildcats on the wsm and rsaum case. !st make sure your action will take the wsm length case. Do search for .257 pronghorn. I think it was a layne simpson article. The lazoroni stuff is great but brass is expensive. If you migh like to go big , the good ol 250 rem mag is great round and might fit in your action also...tj3006 freedom1st

Yeah, I guess they want to retire early or something. I like the velocities from such a short case though.

The 25 WSM is screamer, and in a lightweight rig would offer way out there performance with negligable recoil. The 350 rem mag is a great round, and if you don't mind a big of recoil the 350 WSM is an interesting one. __________________________________________________ The AR series of rounds, ridding the world of 7mm rem mags, one gun at a time.

Make one a 270 wsm and the other a 325 wsm or 350 rem. mag. Nothing wrong with what you have but these should be easy conversions. Straight shootin to ya

You can make them any thing you want.....take them, to the gun shop and trade them for exactly the guns you want as it's the least cost way of converting them. Further you can have the make and caliber you want. In just about all instances you can trade the rifle for a new one for less than rebarreling! Just for giggles....there is a (almost) new Rem 700 synthetic in 30-06 sitting next door with a $300 tag on it! Consigned...but still less than the cost of a rebarrel! And you don't even need to trade anything!!!!! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." I could trade one if I want but for the amount that would be given it is more worthwhile to keep them. Some dealers in this area don't even want to consider a trade and the ones that do will only go about $350 as everyone thinks the saum's will be obsolete and ammo tough to come by. Both of mine are like nib with less than 20 rounds of range time. I have a 270wsm - 7mm mag - 300wsm so I bought these due to a good deal. I was really thinking of making a 25 caliber something out of one - probably the 300 as the 7mm seems to be one to keep as is as most knowledgeable firearms people prefer it over the 7wsm. Both guns are terrific shooters straight out of the box.

My gunsmith showed me a couple reamers that were interesting, both were necked down 300 WSM's to .264 and the other in .25, talk about a couple of screamers.
