I have been thinking about picking up a Marlin in this cal. Matched with a low power scope it would be a handy rifle. Any comments? Loads?

My sister in law hunts with a Remington pump in 35 REM. She really likes it and it kills deer very well. I think she is still using 200gr Hornady SPZ. I gave her when I sold my 350 Rem Mag

I figured you would be deer hunting with a 10,3x60R Swiss barrel on your Blaser. [Big Grin]
Switching, of course to the 45 Blaser for big pigs. [Wink]

My 10,3 barrel is sitting in Isny for my K 95. I am going to Germany in July for training at the Blaser factory. I will import it then. The .45 Blaser is a great idea the folks at SIG in the US really do not understand the utility of the round. Right now it is easier to deal direct with the Germans than some of the folks in Exeter.

But my litttle lever gun sounds like it has merit. I was thinking of a 4x scope

I had a J.C. Higgins made by Marlin in this caliber. It had regular rifling, not microgroove, and it shot cast bullets as well as jacketed ones, and at the same MV too! I used the RCBS 200-grain flatnose bullets. It was a very accurate rifle, and a good killer up to 150 yards or so. I loaded mine with 37 grains of IMR 3031 and that bullet. It also shot the Speer 180-grain flatnose well, using 41 grains of IMR 3031. MV of the 180 was 2350 FPS!! I had a Weaver K-2.5 scope on it, post & crosshair reticle.

You are right about the 45 Blaser. I have mentioned in AR before that I talked to two guys from the factory that were over here for the last Safari show in Dallas. They said there were no plans to import the 45 Blaser. I had them convenced to "sneak" me one in....but where would I get the ammo???? [Confused] I do not under stand their thinking. I also bugged them about the 28 gauge bbls and my dealer got a couple. Maybe while you are at the factory you can talk them into importing the 45 Blaser bbls and "lots" of ammo. [Big Grin]
Have you seen their rucksack? Is it any good?

I did not like the back pack. The gun case company I own is in the processs of building some Blaser friendly pieces. Our packpack should be avalible for sale this fall.

The .45 Blaser is just one of those things, we have the .450 Marlin, why don't we build .450 Marlin R 93 barrels if they do not want to import the ammunition .45 Blaser ammunition. A friend in the industry is working on some .45 Blaser brass.

In regards to the .35 Rem. I was looking at using the Speer 220 grs Hot core at about 1800 fps. I noticed that some brass suffered from case separation. is remington the only vendor for the brass.

the marlin, and 35 remington are an excellent combination. I put a weaver base and weaver low rings with a tasco world class compact 2-8x32 on it.
I had to mill the base to clear the power ring, and remove the front sight (too visible), and the result was a setup where the scope is as low as possible. it shoots like a dream.

I had one and really liked the caliber.
My deer load was hornady 200 gr.rn over top 38.0 grains of IMR-4064 and a cci 200 primer. The average velocity for this load was 2020fps.I also used the lee factory crimp die.

All that can be said about the revived zombie, the .45 Blaser, has already been posted in various German web fora. I don't have much to add to what I stated back then.

Just one piece of info: a recent test in one of our gun magazines was also thoroughly negative.

Carcano
(but nothing against the fine 10,3 x 60 R)

I am really looking forward to going to Isny. They asked me at the export why I wanted a 10,3. The .45 Blaser is the .450 Marlin with a rebated rim, not a bad idea.
