Doesn't Leupold offer reticle options? You can check out their website.

Thanks Mark... tho not what I'm looking for, still a very open option. I might just put on a leupold with that reticule.. I'm getting frustrated in my search in scoping my old sporter Mauser in the right older Germ/Aust scope. Trying to keep to the old school theme MopaneMike

I have one of those in an old El Paso Weaver K3-C3. C3 indicates that exact Reticle. You might find one at a Gun Show or one of the Auction sites. Have no idea all the different Power scopes Weaver put it in. Unless you are determined to have a Leupold(I used to be - but got over it ), you could get catalogs from the various scope makers and see what they offer. Some have them on their web sites and some have pitiful web sites. If you can't find what you want and 3x will fill your needs, PM me. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the offer Hotcore, I will keep it in mind.. I have been searching for a variable power Germ/Aust glass 2-7X38 or there about would be perfect. Something a bit older (but not too old) so as to look a bit old school and not all angular like the newer Germ/Aust scopes are.. Thinking of going to the Leupold as a last resort.. MopaneMike

Hey KurtC, That is the C3 exactly. I was thinking it extended above the Thin Wire about 1.5". But when I checked, my notes say the one I have extends 2" at 100yds. Hey Mike, I'm in no panic to get rid of mine. It is a solid old scope that still sees occasional use on my rifles. I can see where the 2-7x would be even better. I've never owned a German or Austrian scope, so I can't comment on them.

On some scopes, such as the Weaver V4.5 (variable), the post comes to a point right at the crosshair. On others, the post comes above the crosshair, offering two points of aim for varying distances. Some scopes have the post with a flat tip, others with a point. I've always liked this type of reticle, because it mimicks iron sights. It is like looking at a front sight post thru an aperature rear. I've used it on numerous scopes by Burris, Leupold, Schmidt & Bender, Hensoldt and Weaver.

Try Wally Seibert in Issaquah, Wa. Don't have a number but he can do it and is authorized by the factory so the warrantee will still be good. The only easy day is yesterday!

I have a 4x Leupold with the command-post style reticle. I'm not sure if that helps anyone, but it is pictured over in the classifieds.

I have one of the older weavers with post and cross hair. I personally found it to be one of most useless reticules I have used. I much perfer mil dots or any one of the muti aiming point reticules over post and cross hair. If I were going to get a custom reticle it would be a thick cross hair with a fine 2nd aiming point to give me a 300 yard aiming point. Most rifles sigthed in properly make hiting with out hold over to 200 yards easy. Its the guessing of the 9 to 14 inchs of hold over or so at 300 that makes the longer shot harder.

Hot Core, I have the same scope with that reticle in it mounted on an older 7x57. Just sighted it in for Deer hunting. I like that reticle too. You just can't beat it for shooting at dusk. Don

Hey Don, I've had mine on all kinds of rifles and it just keeps Ticking like a Timex. Last had it on my 444Mar Guide Gun and it will probably end up on the new 444Mar XLR. I have Williams Fire Sights mounted on it and really surprised myself with how well my old eyes could do with them. But as dusk approaches, I do like the light-gathering capabilities of a scope. Great old "Made in USA" scope.

Iam just relating personal experience. If I were going to spend the extra dollars on a custom any thing the more information I could gain about the project could help one decide to go a head with the project or not. Have at it it's your money just remember that custom anything's are harder to sell and most of the time one does not get their money out of them. If you have used a post and reticule before and like it great. If you haven't and just think its a great idea. Iam just trying to inform you of what I have found out by useing one.
