I still haven't decided on whether to go W/6.5x55 or 7X57 for my Oberndorf Classic Mauser.

7X57 would seem more appropriate & I can save my 6.5 barrel to do the 6.5x55 on the 1910 Mexican action I have stashed.

The only reasonably priced 7X57 brass that Midway has in stock is Prvi Patizan. How is this brand as far as consistency & durability?

I have used the Privi Partizan brass in both 9.3x62 and .375 H&H and like it. I loaded some of the .375 brass 8 times with full loads before I started seeing signs of potential case head separation and pitched it. I had no actual case head separations but it was not far off. That is better life than I have had with R-P .375 brass. I have not yet worn out any 9.3x62 brass, but it has only been fired 4 or 5 times.

I have used Prvi brass in 22 Hornet & 7.92 x 33 Kurz and found it to be consistent and overall good brass to reload.

Prvi is the only brass I use in 7X57, very good stuff. I've yet to throw away a case in 6 loadings, I started with new cases.

For years, I've been using PRVI/PPU brass in 6,5x55SE,7,5x55SW, .30-06 with total satisfaction. Not only are prices attractive but their brass is very consistent (weight, capacity, concentricity), even more so than better known brands.

I've used it for 308, 7-08 & 9.3x62. Never had any issues. I think its good brass.

No problems with it in 7x57 personally.

I usually buy a few boxes of factory prvi ammo to do my rough sighting in and get familiar with a new rifle, and then use the brass for my custom loads.

I have occasionally seen prvi ammo cheaper than the brass!

I have been using PPU for since it came to our shores, it lasts forever, and I don't believe there is better brass to be had, certainly not what little WW and Remington there is out there today,

WW and Rem brass has really gone down hill in quality recently, not to mention they have all but quit selling brass ( the evil bean counters at work again ) and gone to strictly loaded ammo as that's where the money trail is, and that's all that counts anymore it seems..I feel like they tossed us under the bus, and Im not inclined to forgive them for that. I won't be shooting their guns or ammo anytime in the future.

Norma makes good brass and a varity of it, but its pretty thick and soft and the price is sky high and it appears that even Hornady costs keep rising, and may be justified, dunno! I'll stick with PPU in every caliber I can, and if not available I will have to opt for HOrnady. However Lapua and RWS is higher n a cats back, but both are very good quality brass. I think Jamison may be pretty good and they are coming out with lots of discontinued calibers and bless their souls for the thoughtfulness that's amis in most of todays ammo manufacturing companies.

Good to hear all the positive feedback. I will order some of the PPU brass.

I, too, have had great results with PRVI
in several calibers. After seeing the poor quality of current Win. and RP brass, I now buy PRVI for preference whenever possible.

A friend uses necked-down 7x57 PRVI in his .257 Roberts. Using 70 gr. Blitz-kings at just under light-speed, his first load development yielded a load that shot 3 consecutive 3-shot groups at 300 yards that measured 1.0" to 1.3". (His bbl is a featherweight profile, by the way!)

That was with no case selection, primer pocket/flash-hole prep, etc. He is VERY pleased, and reports some extremely spectacular kills on prairie dogs with that rifle.

I've used Privi Partizan brass and ammo for years in 7.62x54R, 7.62x39, 6.5x55, 7mm mauser and 7.5 Swiss. In fact when the old Hansen Cartridge company was in business they were the only ones that had boxer primed 7.62x54R available. Use this brass for cast bullets in a Finn model 27 moisin nagant rifle. Good stuff. Frank
