Gents: Would a SS Ruger make a good 338-06 nasty weather truck gun? Basically, take a Hawkeye or even a MKII and rebarrel a 30 06 I supppose. This would be a LH rifle so also wondering if McMillan or someone makes a synthetic for a LH Ruger. Cover it in Cerakote or something and off I go. Just curious.

I don't see why not. There's nothing wrong with a Ruger action, although I would prefer to build on a Win Mod70! I have a Ruger M77 in 338-06 also, and it does it's job quite well, in fact it's a little more accurate than a Rem700 I had in the same calibre. Both of mine have had 24" barrels, it works better at this length, IMHO.

Mine is built on a Ruger M77, laminate stock, all weather coating, works great. I see no reason a newer SS MKII wouldn't as well. LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

I built my 338-06AI on a Sako m75 Greywolf that was a new 25-06 (IV action) and placed the barrel with a new PacNor. LOVE IT - 225gr Accubonds!! Your rifle would be a sweet one for sure with a Macmillan stock.

Very nice MP. If you like the 225grNAB, give the 225gr TTSX a try, very accurate. LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

I have yet to try a bullet in mine that did not shoot MOA or better - 250 A FR, 225 Nos Partition, 210 TSX/TTSX.

I have. They shoot good too. Developed loads for both bullets. I have a preference for the AB's right now - its what I reload with for my 300WM and 270WSM THANKS for the comments guys.
