I have a number of Hornady dies. Several of the custom. Only issue I have had with their dies is the decapper rod was not threaded in their old style. Making it difficult to adjust and hold the rod in place. They have corrected that problem in their new dies. While I don't have a 9.3X62 I did just order another set of customs last week. While I might consider another brand for a target rifle I've never had issue with them for a hunting rifle. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

I had Hornady build me a set of (custom) dies for my 9.3x62. But other than I'm able to use these dies without the expander, and the dimensions of the die being closer to that of my chamber, there is no difference between my dies and regular Hornady dies. As Paul mentioned above, Hornady improved their dies when they added threading (or is it just "ridges"?) to their decap stem. That got rid of my major gripe with these dies. I prefer Forster, but if they are not available, Hornady will also do. - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... I know what you mean about Hornadys(now old)decap/expander rod! What I do with the three bottleneck cartridges I reload for is use a universal decap die, size how it want with the sizer die(not just Hornadys)less decap/expander rod, then expand the neck using a Lyman'M' die. If you would run into a situation(which I have not)where neck tension is not enough, you can get a smaller expander for the 'M' die. Works good. As far as Hornadys seater die,I like them enough that I bought one for a .300 wildcat I load for. til later

I've loaded several hundred, at least, 9.3x62 rounds with my Hornady dies with no problems. I use Hornady dies for 223,7.62x39, 308, & 270 as well as the 9.3x62 and have had no problems with them and all have produced very satisfactory results. I've got some RCBS dies in other calibres and feel that the Hornady dies are a bit easier to adjust.

I started lo those 40+ years ago with a set of Lyman dies and have bought mostly RCBS and Redding since. Have a couple of sets of Lee dies for things I don't shoot much. Own one set of CH4D dies as well. Of those I have, I like the Reddings the best. I do have an open mind about die manufacturers and may try a Hornady set. I have a set of RCBS dies for my 9.3x62 and really like them.

I bought RCBS then sold them because them were made to use 06 brass which is a tad smaller at the base. They were sizing my Norma & RWS brass too small at the base. Then I bought Redding ( which I should have done in the first place ) The base OD is correct no problems what so ever. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Does Hornady sell a refit kit for the older dies, meaning a new threaded decapping rod and collet?

I use a set of four year old RCBS dies, they work fine with Graf and Lapua brass. When I have reformed .30-06 they leave the brass a bit oversized at the area above the base. I'm completely satisfied.

I believe they do. - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... It entices its bearer into primeval forests, into mountains and deserts untenanted by man. - Horace Kephart

It's called the Zip Spindle kit and costs about $10. There are three versions: (1) rifle calibers except 17 &20 (2) 17 & 20 rifle calibers (3) straight-walled cases.

Hornadys are fine, Redfields are nice, I probably prefer RCBS, but most all the dies are fine and do a good job..The only dies I won't use are Ch4d and they just don't have the quality that I am looking for, and old Dave is too hard to deal with if you have a problem with his dies.
