anyone have one of these made up on the CZ action? I am trying to decide between having AHR make me one on the CZ action in a 22 inch barreled 7 x 57 or having MC in Alabama make me a 7-08 on a Rem 700 action using a Bansners stock and douglas barrel. I want to arrive at a 7 pound rifle before scoping it and an 8 pound rifle full up.

Jimmy, mine was not made up, but IS a CZ550 FS in 7x57. I don't believe they make them any more, but you might find one used.

Peter, I think AHR puts rebarrels an action to whatever you want, so I was looking at the 7 x 57 to fit the long action better than a 7-08. Of course a Rem 700 short action is possible if I go that route.

My 2 favorite American factory specs 7x57s are a Ruger 77 RSI and a Remington 700 Mountain Rifle.

If I was going to build a non-mannlicher stocked 7x57, I think that I would use a SS LA Remington 700, a light contour Pac-Nor SS barrel, and a McMillan stock in whatever style moves you. I have several different McM styles and like the 700 Mountain Rifle and Compact formats the best.

If I was going to put together a mannlicher stocked 7x57, I would buy a Ruger 77 RL in 257 Roberts and have it rebored, then I would trim the barrel and mate it with a Ruger 77 RSI stock. I have those parts on-hand, as I was going to make a 77 RSI in 257 Roberts, but then found 1 that a fellow in FL had had made up and shelved the project.

Yes, BUT the 257 Roberts, 7mm-08, and 7x57 were NEVER cataloged and were only made in small special order runs. If you want a 77 RSI chambered in any of these 3 cartridges, it is much quicker to rebore from an existing Ruger barrel. Or, if you want a 77 RSI in 260, the simple solution is to rebore up from a 243.

I have all of the tang safety 77 RSIs, except for the 7mm-08, and a couple of the 77 Mark II RSI shooters.

I just thought of another option to consider, buy a Colt Light Rifle in 270 or 30-06 and send it to Mel Forbes at NULA for a 7x57 barrel, a NULA stock, and a NULA trigger. That would get you a CLR/NULA hybrid that is significantly NULA for about 50% of the price of a "real" NULA.

I can only speak to the quality AHR's work on DGR but it is exceptional. I was so pleased with what they created for me, I will be ordering another from them within the month.
Good luck but I know you can not go wrong with Wayne and Ed at AHR.
