First off,I want to say this is my first time posting on this sight.I wish I knew a fraction of what most of you know about guns and ammo. I traded for this gun several years ago.It came with two(2) stocks. One is a real pretty, shiny wood with a beautiful pattern and the other is a black synthetic. The bluing is excellent. The guy I got it from said it was high dollar, but I figure if took it to a gun shop to sell, thay would offer me a lot less than it is worth.Back when I got this gun,I bought a new LEUPOLD VARI-X IIc 3-9x40mm scope and installed using SAKO mounts.I still have the scope box and paperwork saved in a drawer.A fellow told me the scope could be worth more now than what I originally paid for it.I just would like to have an idea of the value and a recommendation of how to get top dollar. Thanks

Pictures are worth a 1000 words. A good one would bring around a "G". with 2 stocks & a scope you should get more. I own many Sako's & I love them all. ______________________ Did I mention I love Sako's

Wookie's estimate is accurate. With the rifle, scope and stocks you can figure somewhere in the $900-$1200 range, depending on condition. Does the Stocks have "Sako" on the recoil pads? Pictures would help us valuate it for you. Lou **************** NRA Life Benefactor Member

Thanks for the info.Neither recoil pad says SAKO.The one on the wood stock says WHITE LINE Pachmaur Gun Works.

I've got the same rifle, bone stock just like yours. That particular scope has NOT gotten more valuable, and in fact it is rare to find any that actually have that aren't really old or rare... The best way to figure a value on a gun nowadays IMO is to spend a little time poking around on Guns America, and do a search for your type of rifle, and look at what they sell for, also it often gives a good baseline to look around on something like the Bass Pro or Cabela's 'gun libraries'. Welcome to AR and good luck!

The replacement pad hurts it some, but very little. It is a "standard" grade, but the wood looks to be a notch above average. .270 is a good, liquid caliber (will bring more than .30-06 or 7mm Rem, but less than .300 or .338 Win). The Leupold Vari-X II is still worth in the $200 range. The bare gun will sit a long time if you price it as high as $800, but the whole package would probably bring $1,000, maybe a tad more. Really nice set up.

Stonecreek, that pad was the factory pad for a run of those Sako's, identical to mine which was bought new in box. Don't think it affects the value in any way up or down. Good luck Mustang

That's entirely possible, although I've never seen a Pachmyr pad on a factory Sako (and I've seen A LOT of them.) But anyone who has dealt with Sakos extensivly has learned never to say "never" when it comes to unique Sako features. I'll post this on the Sako Collectors forum and see if anyone else has ever come across this pad.
