A good friend of mine drew a WY bull tag after 8 years of waiting. I started working up a load for his Browning A-bolt in 300WSM in July. After working with many different bullets/powders we found a very accurate load with 165 grain Swift Sciroccos. on the last morning of his hunt he got a big 5x6 to step out at 175 yards. he said the first shot felt good and the brute humped up and took a couple steps forward. He hit him again and he took five steps and hit the deck dead. First shot went over the heart and he found the bullet in the hide on the off-side shoulder - picture perfect mushroom. The second was a couple inches back, through the lungs and out. the elk was dead before he got a good spray from the exit. Meat damage to the off shoulder was acceptable. At least in this instance the Scirocco looks to be a very suitable elk bullet.

Thanks for the report, sounds like it's working like it should.
I've been playing with them in my 30/06, but they need to be seated deeper than the other bullets I'm using.
They appear to be a very well constructed bullet.

A good, well placed bullet like the 165 gr Scirocco should work well. I have an Arizona Unit 10 bull elk permit later this year and will likely use 165 gr Hornady GMX bullets in my 30-06 as they shoot and have performed wonderfully on other large game.

Anyone who claims the 30-06 is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own marksmanship

I shoot the 180gr. scirocco bullets out of my 30/378 and have excellent results on deer , bear , and moose . It's my bullet of choice .
My friend shoots them out of his 300rum and has taken more than a few elk , all one shot kills .
