I have a new Leupold 2.5-8 x 36 scope on my 300 win mag.
I am going bear hunting on vancouver island this spring, where shots are normally within 100 yards, and the year after, I am going to west Texas for mulies,, where shots could be 300 yards I guess.
Would this scope fit in both of these situations?
Thanks,
W.

Hell yes!

the scope would be fine for 400 yds, and of course closer than 100 yds also..

you've got a fine combo that will more than satisfy your hunting needs...

Last night a parent of one of our boy scouts in the troop was showing me his "Alaska rifle".. it was a RMEF Custom Engraved Marlin Stainless/Lmainate in 45/70.... his scope choice was a 4 x 16 x 50 High Buck Burris Euro Diamond...

talk about scope overkill....I wasn't going to insult the gentleman by pointing that out...

what you have is a very capable and well balanced package.. for either job.. and everthing in between..

I have he same scope if yours is the VXIII. It is capable of doing what you want. Mine serves time on a 7 mag and has been to Colorado. I have never felt that it was incapable of doing anything the 7 mag could. However if you feel that it is not up to the task I will be glad to take it off your hands.

Couldn't say it much better myself! I love that scope and my .338-06 wears it. My second choice would by a 1.76-6 VXIII Leupold, I've shot out to 250 yards no problem with that scope as well.

All that I would add is to suggest that when you are hunting up North trun your scope down to no more than 5 power, and when your hunting down South go ahead and crank er up..

When the first VX-3 2.5 x 8 came out I hunted with one on several continents. It is still my favorite big game scope. Not too much magnification and plenty of durability.

Leupold 2.5X8 VXIII or Vari XIII is as good as it gets. I have used them for years on various 338s and 358s, it don't get much better!

My 338-06 wears one as well. I think its the best all around scope for big game hunting. I have taken antelope over 300 yards with it.
