I have an opportunity to purchase a Sako L61R Finnbear 30-06, Serial #78XXX.

It is a Garcia Import, has original Sako butt pad & scope rings. Metal is 95%, stock is good condition. Shot only a few times.

What is a reasonable offer ? On auction sites have from $450-1200.

Thanks for your help

For a nice gun in original configuration, if it is a "standard" model, then less than $600 would be a great buy and more than $700 would be pushing it. A Deluxe should bring about $200 (or more) extra, depending on how good its wood figuring is. A Mannlicher will bring a little larger premium. This is for a .30-06, which, as in most rifles, is a very common caliber. Less common calibers will bring a little more.

This opinion is worth what you paid for it, and you can undoubtedly get a different opinion for a similar price. However, I've bought four Sakos in the last month and my estimates are interpolations based on the actual prices I've paid. As you say, you can find all kinds of prices listed on the auction sites, but the only prices that count are those from the relative handful of auctions that actually sell the gun.

I think those estimates are a little on the low side. I'll take all the original deluxe riles you can find at $900 each.
