Am thinking of building a High Wall thickwall Winchester for this cartridge. This is a very strong action. On the Blaser site, www.blaser.de, I have found that velocity is just below .300 Winchester Magnum. But I have not been able to find a pressure figure. Can anyone tell me where to look? Also, it will probably be in metrics, so I would want to compare it to the metric figures for more common cartridges such as .270 WCF and .30'06. Any help would be much appreciated.

Vigillinus The 30.R Blaser is 4.050 bar CIP max. 30/06 CIP max is 3.500 bar, .308 Win is 3.600 bar. Hope that helps. Franz

Hi Franz: just for comparison with the previous coppercrusher data that you listed (with which I am still admittedly better acquainted and to which I am also somewhat attached :-)), here are the *currently* binding new CIP specifications, as measured with the piezo method: .30-06: 4050 bar .308: 4150 bar .30 R Blaser: 4050 bar Beste Gre nach Wien, Carcano

Daydreamer and Carcano91 Thanks, exactly what I wanted to know. An amazing repository of collective knowledge on this forum !!! A High Wall would have no difficulty, but I would guess that a traditional topbreak rifle, whether single or double, would be at or past its strength limits Vigillinus

but I would guess that a traditional topbreak rifle, whether single or double, would be at or past its strength limits The traditional Jaeger design of single shot is produced by Blaser, Merkel, and others to accomodate the 30R blaser, the 7mm rem mag, the 300 win mag, and other high pressure rounds. This is a rather old design which uses the interlocking of barrel and breech around a hardened steel interock. strong as hell. Jameister

Jameister: you are right that the Jgerverschlu or Kippblockverschlu (invented by August Jger of Suhl before the First World War, taken up again in the 1980s or even as late as 1990s) is extremely strong. Thanks for mentioning it. But it is the exception from the rule, and hardly ever found in older guns. Carcano
