I don't own a .30 mag. If I did it would be a .300h&h in a Ruger #1.

While my featherweight .30-06 has taken all the .30 caliber chores in recent years I must say that my 300 H&H has a very soft spot in my gun list.
If one must own a 30 cal magnum the old H&H is not to be overlooked.

.300 Winny guy, here. Have a 70 and a s/s 77. My dad also shoots one in a Mark I 77. Good shooters, all. But I'm partial to the 70.

Although I have never really had a personal need for a magnum 30, if someone forced me to use one it would be a .300 H&H just because I love older cartridges.

The 300 H&H. I don't own one at present but have owned several and may again. However, some time ago I decided that if I needed more than my 30-06 could deliver I would jump to a .338 and so far do not regret the decision. Still, if I were building a custom the caliber would probably be .300 H&H.

The're all good but yesterday my newly acquired 300 ackley improved gave me a nice little cloverleaf while sighting in for our late moose season. Tight to the shoulder 1/3 of the way up is the way to go.

I tend to use more than enough gun

The 300 Win mag is the perfect answer to almost any sane non-dangerous question.

For the record, I am floored by the support for the .300 Holland. bewildered

I have owned a 300 WM, a 300 WBY and a 300 H&H. The best for me is 300 H&H and in second place 300 WBY. The 300 WM is , in my opinion, less useful, specially to manage heavy bullets.

Mark,

I am 29, how did you guess Big Grin

But while I love my .300 RUM I reckon it's got to be in a certain type of rifle to take advantage of the range and power it has, I have mine in a Rem 700 Police with Mark 4 leupold scope in badger rings and base, I use it for shooting at vermin from over the ute bonnet with a bags etc. For a standard .30 cal walk around hunting gun I will take the 30/06 anyday over any of the magnums.

I do like traditional calibers as well and own a 9.3x62 and have a .404 J on the way..........................so you can give me some of the old and some of the new Mark beer
