Hi, I've got a Savage 116 in .300 Winchester Magnum that I've put a Stockade Stock on and fiberglassed the action as well as lightening up the trigger pull some. My question is what kind of groups are you folks getting out of your Savage .300 Win Mags? My gun is giving me a little over an inch with a 180 gr. Speer Hot Core and IMR 4831 powder. I was wondering if I should expect a little more out of this gun. I will admit that I could've played more with bullet and powder combinations. Thanks, Jeff [ 08-26-2003, 17:36: Message edited by: Jeff57 ]

I've got a Savage 112 FSAK, same basic gun only in .300 RUM. I'm getting .75 MOA with factory ammo and sub .5 MOA with handloads. I think you can do a lot better than that whether it is loads or bedding that needs to be fiddled with. bowhuntr

I have a 116 FCSAK 300WinMg SS w/"African"Walnut that gives me 3/4" 3 shot groups using factory loaded Hornady 180gr SST's with the muzzle brake open or closed. My first experience with a Savage and has turned my opinion of them around ...but its still UUUUgly! LOL! Ron

I've got a 112bvss in 300 win mag, it shoots .75" at 100 yds. with winchester supreme factory stuff. I'm in the process now of developing a good handload for it .

I also have a Savage 116, in 7mm STW. I get .75 inch groups with handloads, and I haven't changed the gun a bit since I bought it. As I recall, I first put a box of factory ammo through it to season the barrel, and didn't pay much attention to those groups because I knew I was going to handload. I don't see why you couldn't get tighter groups than you are currently seeing.
