My Remington 700 9,3x62 just loves that bullet! And me too. Even though the rifle shoots well with almost everything, the 320gr SN in front of N550 tops everything else I´ve tried. 1/2" groups with 3-shots at 100m time after time, even with a hot barrel. I´ve never managed to do that before.

It should be somewhere around 2300f/s.

Vihtavuori says that 62.3gr of N550 will give 2297f/s in a 22" 3/4 barrel. My barrel is 22" and the load is 62.0gr, so somewhere short of 2250f/s. Enough for everything I´ll hunt and enough to get good expansion.

That is really interesting. I get 2220 fps with Woodleigh 320s using Varget and N150. Thanks for this great info. "When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."

The Vv N5XX series powders are "High Energy" powders & can generally be backed off a bit to a slower burn rate & used in slightly compressed loads. These compressed loads have for me @ least, yielded very consisent Mv & very good Sd. I can also generally achieve about 100-150 fps better Mv @ a given pressure over conventional powders when loaded thus. My 8X57IS also loves N550 & gets oustanding accuracy @ very respectable Mv from a 23 1/2" re-contoured, re-crowned miltary barrel that has had no internal modifications whatsoever. (as issued chamber & throat) I see no reason why any moderate (for bore diameter) case capacity cartridge wouldn't give similar results. Ganyana has had some poor results with the 320 gr. Woodleigh at slower velocity..I have had excellent accuracy in all the 9.3s I have owned with them. RN bullets tend to be very accurate has been my experience.. I run my 320 gr. Woodleighs at very close to 2400 FPS with large doses of RL-16 and a long barrel, long magazine so i can seat bullet out quite a bit. They have been very deadly on Cape Buffalo for me as have the lighter 286 gr, (I believe) GS custom bullets. The heavy for caliber Woodleighs all seem to shoot very well indeed in all my big bores. My 700 wont feed RN-cartridges that are longer than 3 1/4"(82mm). The ones to the right in the magazine get stuck to the left side of the barrel. I´ve had a Huskvarna 1640 that had no problem feeding 3 1/2" (86mm) 320gr Woodleighs.

A friend and I both killed Cape Buff in Zim in 09' with 9.3x74s with 320RN and solids. Mine go 2100fps and about 2300fps. Both guns had pretty much the same performance. My Solid hit him in the left rear quarter as he turned away and exited ahead of the rt shoulder. The soft hit just in front of the shoulder, took out the artery and lodged against the far shoulder retaining 314 grains. I wouldn't worry too much about about speed with the 320s, just go watch big animals die. They just work!
