In my Nosler manual, the 270 is remarked to be freebored. I looked at a couple of other manuals and they do not list this. I am setting up a new load for a new 270 and need to know if anyone knows if this is true for all rifle makes?

Well, pretty much all cartridges are set up for a small amount of freebore leading into the throat of the barrel. I've never really noticed any great amount of freebore in a 270 Winchester though. If your talking about a 270 Weatherby then yes, freebore is normal and part of the cartridge design. - Dan

You are right. The 270 is not freebored. I ordered a Stoney Point OAL guage to be sure.
Thanks
