Please, who do you all recommend to have a single barrel rifle rebored?
www.deltagunshop.com is a DEAD website now...

Rebarrel it instead. I rebarreled my 7600 to a 338/06 years ago.

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

http://www.oregunsmithingllc.com/

and

http://www.35caliber.com/

I have spoken with both of them and both were decent to deal with. JES had a much shorter lead time when I was looking and went with him. He did good work and I was happy with the overall experience.

They make a neat 9.3x62, Scott McCracken built one and I played with it for awhile..It was the 760 with the early corn cob forend..Neat gun..Scott istalled a shotgun bead and no rear sight, He would point and shoot it like a shotgun and by damn it shot 3 inch or less at 100 yards offhand! and oh was it fast on target to my utter amazement..

Thinkiing back it started life out as a 30-06, went to a 35 Whelan and ended up a 9.3x62 Thats been a long long time ago..

BTW, that gun was produced in a 35 Whelan, that would be hard to beat..

I saw that gun Ray. He had a small bead rear sight and a larger bead front sight on a rib, if it was the same gun. It was his black timber elk rifle.

Yes sir, that was the gun..It was a 35 Whelan as I recall, and I was considering a 9.3x62 as the better option..

Jes at http://www.35caliber.com/ would be my choice as he's local and I've visited him at his shop. He can also re-bore and chamber for 35 Whelen as well as 9.3x62

Ive used High Plains Reboring and rifleing, Norman Johnson, 243 Turtle Lake, ND 58575....

ruth@highplainsreboringandrerifleing, 701-448-9188...

hard to get hold of, he is very busy, leave a message..He is worth the effort..

He did 6 or 7 guns for me and they all shot under an inch, sooo thats pretty darn good...

From another point of view, the 30-06 with a 200 gr. Accubond or partition,at 2700 fps is the full equal to the 338-06 or 35 whelan..I base that on using all three for deer elk and some PG over the years, the 06 is always a spoiler once you dump the paper balistics!! sofa diggin

I don't think anyone ever picked up the reboring/re-rifling work at Delta GunShop/Clearwater Reboring when Jim Dubiel died.

I've had great satisfaction with the work done by JES.

I could make a case for a rebore of a Rem 7600 to 338-06 or the 338-06 IMP. The 180-185 gr bullets can do 2900 fps which makes it superior to the 30-06 and you can still load 250 gr bullets for the big stuff. Hard to argue with that.

The problem I see there, Ray, would be getting to 2700fps with the 200-grain bullets. In my manuals, that is already 35 Whelen territory.
