Anyone tried 200 grs Accubonds in 30.06 on roe deer to wild boar? Would like to hear about your experience with the combination before I put my hands on a box of AB 200 Thanks Bjarne

Haven't recovered any from deer or hogs yet but here is one from an Elk at 150 yds showing boattail out on offside good mushroom and weight retention accurate as hell and speedy enough with RL17 WORK UP TO THIS LOAD IN YOUR RIFLE LIKE I DID IN MINE! ____________________________________ There are those who would misteach us that to stick in a rut is consistency - and a virtue, and that to climb out of the rut is inconsistency - and a vice. - Mark Twain | Chinese Proverb: When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others. ___________________________________

I load them for my brother an cousin. I have yet to recover one from a whitetail. My brother has even killed one off of a ricochet. He got a little excited, best I can figure the bullet hit a rock, entered the belly and left a fist massive exit hole in the back. Woods, Seem that 55gr of RL is running things a bit hot. I have yet to break the 2600ft/sec mark without flattened primers and sticky bolt handle. My pet load for 30-06 is 58.2gr of H4831 , averaging right at 2530ft/sec. This load has been discussed several times and been around for awhile. Here's one http://www.24hourcampfire.com/...php/topics/4526446/1 ____________________________________ There are those who would misteach us that to stick in a rut is consistency - and a virtue, and that to climb out of the rut is inconsistency - and a vice. - Mark Twain | Chinese Proverb: When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others. ___________________________________

Should kill any thing your shooting at as long as you hit them properly.

That is impressive when you can get acceptable velocity with 200 gr. bullets that we have been getting with 180s for years in our 06's.. I purchased two pounds of RL-17 for my 9.3x62 and safely got 2400 FPS with a 320 gr. Woodleigh RN for the first time, and with safe pressure. I was a gr. over book recommended max and picked up about 30 FPS, not much but I like the sound of 2400 FPS..I reloaded and fired that PMP case 6 times yesterday, and now that case needs a little trimming and I will see how long it will be before it shows signs of fatigue. so far primer pockets are still snug.. I like PMP cases, particularly in the 9.3x62, they last better than anything I have used and have a lot of powder capacity and they are cheap, (Graff are PMP) After reading this thread I got out the 06 and pulled some 200 gr. Accubonds, pulled the pin out of the dies, resized the necks and reloaded with RL-17, also some 200 gr. Nosler partitions. I went beyond the 55 gr. level 1/2 gr. at a time and got velocity to 2877 FPS before I got a ever so slightly sticky bolt lift, and I also got a clear extractor indention mark, and thats time to stop and back up for sure. I reloaded the case and it seemed OK, and primer was snug but it was a new case and I was beyond book max a good deal..I backed off to 56 grs. and that is my rifles max, but max is not my choice for hunting loads, its just that I like to know where max is with all my guns.... My hunting loads will most likely be 55.5 grs. or RL-17 in this rifle, but we'll see as I work with this new powder, and I may end up using 55 grs. who knows? and its just a matter of accuracy as to which load I settle on...RL-17 certainly gives one enough room for the big long 320 gr. bullet, and it gives the needed velocity, and thats been the problem with long heavy bullets in the 9.3 and to a lesser extent, apparantly the 30-06..A 200 gr. partition at 2700 plus FPS is a awesome amount of big bear killer, and I would not hesitate to tackle a Cape Buff or Lion with such a load, but there are better cartridges for stuff that fights back. Keep in mind that my loads only applies to this particular rifle, should I work up a load in my other 06 then I will repeat the process with that rifle.. I would say that 55 to 55.5 grs. is a good load in most any strong action 30-06 like a Win., Rem., Ruger, or good Mauser, but I would cut back 5% and work up. I have more chronograph work to do on both, its been enjoyable and is something I like to do on cold Idaho days.. Just another big score for the 30-06, the most amazing caliber every! Have had R17 pressure tested and the max vel you can get is 2700 with 200 partitions in the 06 ...pressure is getting close to 65,000psi JUST REMEMBER ...just because one does not get pressure signs does not mean your not over pressure Check out my spread sheet on the reloading forum and see for your self....any thing over 2700 is over pressure!!!!!!!!!!!! One real big advantage of using R17 is it gives me the same vel as MRP but the load with R17 is not compressed, and that really comes into its own when using the long mono proj like the 180/200 ttsx
