Sounds like I need a pound of that stuff!! How are its metering qualities? Similar to 4350?

You are correct. Thats why I take baby steps with R17. Big Grin Why they let it on the market BEFORE loading data was published is beyond me. Roll Eyes

I picked up a pound of RL 17 in Rochester a while back.

Right now I'm recovering from total (right)knee replacement.

I'll get around to some load developement come spring.

If I can get equal Mv & accuracy as I get W/Vv N550 I'll be happy as I can't get Vv powders in these here parts.

Any of the expected improvents over 2730 fps W/a 200gr .323 Nosler will be icing on the cake.

I'm not afraid to say those velocities kind of scare the crap outta me. I just picked up a Sako AV 375 H&H it has a 22" tube. I will be loading Woodleigh 235 & 270 PP's. Thoughts are RL-15 for the 235's. RL-15 and IMR4350 for the 270's. Man, looking at some of the RL-17 data, I will try that.

A 200gr 323 bullet @ 2785 fps is nothing to sneeze at.

W/a 220gr Hornady the 8X57 can still top 2600fps using RL17.

I'm not picking a fight here by any means. I think that is a pipe dream for the 8x57. I got two sets of work up loads (Big Game & IMR4350 w/ 200ge Parts) from last year for a M700 8x57 24" tube, that I will finally get to the range. Work grrrrr.

I am only expecting 2500fps-2600fps with the top tier loads. 2785 fps I just cant see it in the 8x57 w/ 200gr slug
