Does anyone have one of these and what do they think of it?

I don't have any currently, but I've had a few in the past, 30-06s. They are nice rifles, basically a dolled up 721 with a different safety and floorplate, though they are a distinct model. The stocks are a much better fit for a scope than the 721 stock. 725s generally had nicer wood as well. I think they came in both long and short action, calibers like 244, 270, 280 (7mm express), 30-06. Neat guns, if you have a chance to score a nice one at a good price, I'd go for it. The 30-06s in good shape will usually fetch $450-$600, rarer calibers a bit more.

MikeTheBear, I bought a new Remington 725 .280 Remington, in 1959. It is the most accurate rifle I have, and will shoot 3/4" groups consistently, rain or shine, hot or cold, with my handloads, and shoots 1" groups with Remington Factory 150 grains CoreLokt cartridges. I have killed everything from elk down to ground squirrels with it and will use it again this Fall for deer and antelope.

It is smooth and very well balanced and is my favorite rifle. I don't think you can go wrong with a good 725.
