I have an Ithaca rifle in 30-06 that was bought new in the early 80's. It was made in Finland and has a lot of similarities to a Sako action. The stock even has a palm swell very similar ro the Sako style.
David, I'm not sure about producing the whole rifle but the Ithaca LSA rifles did use Sako actions. Please don't tell too many people since these have been a good source of actions for me. Ed
The answer is NO...the actions were Tikka and that is why they say Finland. Yes, I have been in both plants in the days there were two factories...now the whole mess is in the Riihimaki plant where Sako has always been.
As Harry says, the Ithaca LSA was built on a Tikka action. At that time, the only relationship between Tikka and Sako was that they were both made in Finland.
As Pecos points out, Colt marketed a line of rifles built on Sako actions, as did Browning, H & R, Marlin, O'brien, and some others, but never Ithaca.
