I've had some encouraging load development with the 200gr AccuBond in the WinMag and others are reporting both good accuracy and terminal performance. This leads me to ask the question: how fast do you have to drive an AccuBond to make it blow/fail? I'm not equipped to check this myself so I'm inviting the board to give it a shot. Maybe the 140gr in the 7mm STW or RUM. The 180gr in the 30-378Wby or 30-338 Lapua. Whatever will pack the most powder... I am not suggesting that you go out and try this on game. We'll have to stick with other media. I'm guessing that even the "overbore" loudnboomers will have to be loaded hot to see a failure. If anyone is interested, please respond. And of course post your results.

I've tested the 200 up to over 3300 FPS in my 300 RUM without it giving any indication it's about to "blow up."

That's what I suspected. Do you think your RUM could get the 180gr going fast enough to blow up? I guess another way to get what I'm after is: What is the performance window of the AccuBond? I have no intention of pushing the envelope with it, just curious what the extremes are. Thanks for responding.

The core of the accubond is BONDED (hence the name). I would think that maybe a 1:7 twist 30cal barrel chambered in 30-378 improved MIGHT have a snowballs chance,..but I still doubt it. You won't blow up an accubond in a 300RUM. My 30" tube with a 1:10 twist shoving them at 3250 hasn't done it yet,..it hasn't even blown up a SMK which isn;t a bonded core design.

Why worry? Just go unleaded with the barnes tsx and never have to worry about it.

I should clarify: I don't mean blow up like when you shoot a Hornet bullet from a 220 Swift. I was thinking of blow up on game. We've all heard stories of Ballistic Tips "failing" on even light big game. I was looking for what it would take for an Accubond to fail on game.
