I wouldn't worry about the 7 SAUM- It is a good round and is better that the 7WSM. The rem 7 is selling and will continue to increase when more shooters find out how good it is.

I briefly owned a Model Seven stainless/synthetic in 7mmSAUM. I wasn't impressed with the velocity. The max load of 60 grs of IMR4350 gave 3000fps to a 140 Partition. I also had, at the time a Sako L579 with a 23-1/2" barrel in 7-08AI.With 49 grs of the same powder it would do the same speed, albeit with 1-1/2" more barrel. If I were to try another short magnum it would be a 30 caliber.

I got a tikka t3 in 300wsm not the SS model and it's a pretty good light rifle and a reasonable price. I don't think anyone knows the future of the rem short mag cases if I was to buy one I'd want to get about 500 cases. If rem adds the wsm to their line up I think it good-bye to their case. As to resale with the rem I won't worry too much about that as the action will always keep it's value. Well good luck.

As some of the other posters have stated, the .300 SAUM is probably the keeper of the two Remington short action magnums. I have read some interesting articles lately concerning the .300 SAUM stating that the military is using that round in both their short action Model 700 sniper rifles and in AR-10 type weapons for long range shooting. It appears that the .300 SAUM has the benifit of being the same case length as the .308 Win (fits in the Remington and AR platforms without extreme machining of the actions) and has more taper to the case walls than the .300 WSM (which makes it easer to feed/extract). Anything the military is interested in tends to stick around. I suspect the 7mm SAUM will shortly fade away.
