I'm ready to branch out from the factory loads for my 300wsm. Anybody want to pass along some suggestions?

I load for three 300WSM rifles and Ramshot Hunter is clearly the powder of choice in all three. If you can find it give it a try!

My Remington Model 700 XCR chambered in 300 WSM shoots quite well with any number of loads. All are loaded with Winchester cases and Fed 215M primers. Some favorites:

68 grains of IMR 4831 with either a 180 Nosler Partition or Sierra Pro Hunter. 3000 fps

65 grains of H 4350 with a 180 Nosler Partition for about 2975 fps.

67 grains of H 4350 with a 165 Nosler Accubond for about 3170 fps.

67 grains of H 4350 with a 168 Barnes TSX for 3130 fps.

All these loads shoot well under and inch and all should be worked up to from a few grains less powder charge.

I just worked up a load for my back up gun that's going to Namibia with me on Thursday.

180 grain Partition with 63 grains of IMR 4350 got me right at 2900 fps. The max load listed by Hodgon is 65 grains for 2991 fps.

This load shot at .75" groups for three shots and 64 grains opened the groups up to just over an inch.

I've been shooting 67 grains of H4350 with 165 TSX's. One thing to watch: I started out with the 168 TSX's. Shot great- 1 5/8 group at 300 yards. The kicker was that they wouldn't fit in the magazine. The fine print from Barnes recommends their 165's for WSM's. They have a shorter radius ogive which let's you get closer to lands and still fit in the short WSM magazine.
