Hello a few months ago I purchased a Voere Stlf3 rifle in 8x68S, the truth is that it is quite new, especially at the level of metals. The wood is a little more punished. I do not like that after measuring the rifle barrel by inserting a ramrod with the bolt on, the length of the barrel is 61 cm (24 "), which I think is scarce for the gunpowder burns of this rather large brass cartridge. if you know anything about this rifle and what you think, as well as your experiences and opinions of 8x68 S. I have read that this German cartridge has similar performance to the 8 Remington Magnum and 300 Weatherby Magnum (perhaps in very long distances stays behind the American cartridges) and that exceeds the known 7 Remington Magnum and 300 Winchester Magnum. What do you think?

Thank you,

Ovny.

Hello I feel the size of the photos, if someone knew how to reduce them, it would be appreciated.

This rifle is from the year 1973 and I have a concern. In a Spanish forum I was told that this rifle had problems in lifting 8x68S cartridges that mounted certain types of bullets as these were longer than the size of the rifle's ammunition store. Do you know anything about this?

A friend of mine has a rifle identical to this in 30/06 but with single trigger. His rifle is extremely accurate with any factory ammo he tries in it and my handloads. The trigger is not the best on his rifle.
Your 8x68 should be impressive and a capable cartridge for any and all game worldwide short of the biggest of the Big 5.
Congratulations you have found a nice rifle.
Let us know how it shoots.

Ovny I have several Voere rifles like yours. 243, 6.5x68, 30-06,300 Win mag ,and 308 Norma mag. Everyone of them is a shooter and will group under 1 inch @ 100 yards. The 6.5x68 I have is basically the same case as the 8x68S that you have and yes the magazine could be a little longer but factory ammo does cycle. The cone point (pointed bullets) will likely feed best in your rifle. If you have issues with the rounds in the magazine not being raised up high enough to feed into the chamber you may want to find a stronger magazine spring.

Thank you for your answers. I'm looking forward to getting a box of 8x68S cartridges. I have no visor for this rifle, but one idea is to get rid of the Santa Barbara of the 300 Winchester and put the Burris Fullfield of 3-9x40 in the Voere. Although I'm sorry to sell the Santa Barbara.

And that's another question, having the 8x68S ... would you sell the Santa Barbara of the 300 Winchester Magnum for being two overlapping cartridges? That is to say that both have similar benefits. What would you do ?, How can you improve the Voere?, The 300 Win Magnum really surpasses the 8x68S in variety of ammunition and bullets.

Ovny.

To confuse matters, that Voere is probably built on a Santa Barbara action.

You are correct that on the whole there is a greater selection of factory ammunition for the .300 Winchester. Although, the 8x68S ammunition is very good.

It should feed without problems, if not its a simple fix to open the action and the bottom metal to take a long bullet..Its a std FN or FN clone, the Santa Barbra is a good action, just a little rough on finish, polish it out if it bothers you..Nice rifle and nice caliber..Enjoy it.

Certainly Voere used actions of the Santa Barbara for their rifles.

Thank you very much. The 8x68 is a great classic with a lot of glamor. I had wanted a super 8 for some time. My dream is for 270 and I like both Winchester and Weatherby.
