Before you toss out the load you tried, shoot some 200 yd targets. Your bullet may not have stabilized at 100 yds and may be as accurate, if not more so, at 200yds. My favorite bullet weight for the 30-06 is 180 gr PAR with about the same load of 4350 and a 210 primer. It is hot, and you should work it up, but it sure shoots well, and will stop anything you're likely to use a 30-06 on. Ku-dude

I bought a winchester classic stainles in .270win a few years ago, and like you I was getting 1.5 inch groups at first, but after bedding, floating and trigger job I got her down to an inch but the biggest gain I have gotten out of her was adjusting the seating depth. 2 weeks ago I shot a .37 3 shot group at 100 yards, then 15 minutes later shot a .34 3 shot group at 200 yards, this was with the bullet seated .030 off of the lands with a max load of powder. Seating depth is by far the most important factor in my loads with this rifle, funny thing is that some bullets like to be seated way back while others like to be seated just off the lands. Good luck and have fun working up your loads, figuring out the way your rifle likes to shoot different bullets is a lot of fun if not irritating some times.
