Thanks for the info Stonecreek!!!! A couple guys on the gunsmithing thread filled me in on that info. I hope it's a shooter!!! The rifle hasn't been shot in about 20 years and the guy who had it only used it once a year for hunting so I think there have been many rounds through the tube. The barrell and steel are imacculate, he was very meticulous. The stock has a hair line crack in it, but I'll probably replace that after I see how it shoots. The 4x scope has no adjustment knobs, the mount itself is how you adjust windage and elevation. I never saw that before | ||

The FI rifles were nice ones and somewhat overlooked. They used the contemporary FN Mauser action, and ironically, the action stripped from the gun today would probably bring as much as the entire gun, due to the demand for FN's for custom rifles. If you like the way the gun shoots, keep it and consider the action it's built on as "money in the bank". Incidentally, several other attractively-priced rifles during that period also used the FN action, including H & R, Sears (as mentioned), Montgomery Wards, and Garcia. | |||
