I keep saying I'm going to play with a 9.3x62. I have a couple MKX actions in the safe. I've also been thinking about trying a CZ centerfire. I have a couple 22rf and pistols and they work great.

What are the thoughts? Would I be that much better off with a MKX and Douglas barrel or simply get the cz and trim the stock a little?

There isn't a thing wrong with the CZ's, have yet to see one that won't shoot well. The action is a little rough, I just sat and watched TV and cycled it a while and it is fine. The set trigger is a plus, I love one for shooting offhand with my 9.3x62. However if I had a Mk X action sitting around, it would be a tougher decision. You'd probably still end up with more money than the CZ.

Even though you already have actions on hand, it will likely cost significantly less to buy a CZ ready to go than it would to build from an action. It really comes down to whether you want a rifle built on a late FN mauser style action or a mauser inspired CZ?

If I remember correctly. My dealer quoted $465 for the CZ his cost and the barrel, chamber and blue is around $300 + a stock of some type. So yes they are about the same.

If you buy the CZ then what's the Mark X actions for? looks?

Don't be misled by costs....it'll take at least $800 to turn the Mark X into a good shooting wood stocked gun......but of course you'll have something then.

There's no question in my mind....the nod goes to the Mark X actions......but of course I'm not paying for it either.

No they hold down the shelf in my gun room. LOL One action has been several things already. It will live again. The other is new. I know by the time I add wood it will be higher than the $300. But I do have several stocks sitting around for the MKX that would work. From the times I've felt the CZ it ould need some wood removed to feel comfortable for me.

Anyone know if a MKX will hold 5 9.3x62 down? With my wildcat cases I can only get 4 down due to the size and placement of the shoulder.
