I have no idea about any "old story". The Ruger rifle's I bought didn't shoot. I've got one in the safe now that I've never shoot, but if it's anything like the other two I'd never take it in the woods. I'll share my experience's with any product I've owned when I see fit. If I spend my money on something and it doesn't work I'll say so. I just call'm like I see'm. If a dog won't hunt, I'll tell ya so. I've had the pleasure of dealing with Ruger's customer service center before. Does the term "with in factory specifications" sound like I was taken care of? No need for me to call Ruger, I've already been to that rodeo. Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

TC1,
Just like the "within company specifications" the you get from Remington or the "within the specifications as set down by" you get from Winchester. But your incident isn't the norm for Ruger barrels. And keep dragging up the one time Ruger had a problem isn't telling the whole truth on the issue. I have had dealings with Ruger's Customer Service and every time they handled the problem with care and dispatch. Believe me Remington should send their so called Customer Service personnel over to Ruger for lessons in how to deal with customers. Go ahead and tell your story but don’t jump on anyone that tells a different story or completes the true picture. Good luck and good hunting. Lawdog

I never contradicted anything anyone said. Nor is my story uncommon. I never "jumped" on anyone. That was your response after my post. If you like the M77 MKII more power to you. I think it could have been a better rifle than it is. Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

TC1, I had a rifle barreled by ER Shaw. 26" Stainless in 25-06. John Sundra swears by them so I gave them a try. They did a fantastic job. The rifle is a shooter. I put a Boyds laminated stock and the rifle looks and shoots fantastic. I shot a hog and a deer last season with it. Its a little heavy, but in a box stand it does the job fine.

I don't think the bashing phenomena is limited to Ruger by any means. Remington seems to be getting a lot of it lately also. Let's face it, you spend $700-800 for a new rifle and find it doesn't shoot worth a hoot, you're going to bash someone, maybe anyone. There's a lot of it with todays rifles. I'm inclined to think much of it is justified. Just one mans opinion. Best wishes. Cal - Montreal Cal Sibley

Okay, guys, my turn... I have shot Remingtons as far back as I can remember. And I have never found one that wouldn't shoot, but then again, I have never bought a brand new one. The closest I ever got to brand new was a used BDL LH in .270 that the guy told me had had a total of seven rounds through it. Same "one hole" rifle as the one it replaced. Same thing is true of my BDL in 7 RM... It shoots the Nosler 162-grain SBs into one hole all day long if I do my part. And lastly, I swapped for a tang safety M77 in 7 RM for my son before we went to Idaho the fall of 2003. Most horrible trigger in the world, but once I got used to it, it shot to ~1" with the same load as my BDL. We didn't find Mark a bull, but his rifle has taken some deer and hogs since then, and he is happy. Now... I handload for EVERYTHING I shoot. I think that makes a lot of difference. But I have Enfields, Eddystones, an NEF and a Pedersoli as well, and they all shoot extremely well with handloads, most of them better than I can shoot. I think this is why there are Fords, Chryslers and Chevies... I think folks are gonna "dance with who brung ya", as Darrell Royal once said.

I read so often that Rugers customer service is good. Why is it that we need their customer service so often?....is it because the product is good when we bought it? I've used the customer service from many companies including Ruger, RCBS, Hornady, Marlin, EMF, and others. If one needs lessens in customer service go to RCBS or Marlin.....not Ruger. I haven't bought Remingtons for many years so no need of their CS....and I've never needed the CS from Winchester.....kind of like the Maytag repairman. Having a good CS department is a critical part of the companie's quality system.....having so very many that buy a rifle need it is quite the other side of the coin. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
