Gents: I own the ugliest POS rifle on the planet--a Rem. model 600 in .350 RM. I've tried to sell it with no luck on the forums and at gun shows so it looks as if I' stuck with it. My plan now is to butcher it a bit and make it an all weather Alaska beater for friends who come up here to hunt. So, I'd like to replace the plastic trigger guard and floor plate with one made of metal. I've been told they exist and thought I'd give it a shot on AR to see if anyone has one. I know the plastic is weatherproof but it's been recommended I get metal for strength. The rifle has a laminated stock which is good enough for the weather up here and a Leupold 1.5-5x scope with a Plinkington quick detach lever. No question the vent rib has to go if I can get a front sight with the proper elevation. The rifle was bought new in New Hampshire in 1967 and fired 7 times. It kicked the owner so much he never shot it again and stored it in a closet until I bought it from him in 2010. Now it will be my AK beater rifle and any assistance you gents can be in finding me the metal parts I seek will be much appreciated. Soon it will go to a gunsmith to see about coating the barrel and action to keep them rust free. Cheers all, Cal _______________________________ Cal Pappas, Willow, Alaska www.CalPappas.com www.CalPappas.blogspot.com 1994 Zimbabwe 1997 Zimbabwe 1998 Zimbabwe 1999 Zimbabwe 1999 Namibia, Botswana, Zambia--vacation 2000 Australia 2002 South Africa 2003 South Africa 2003 Zimbabwe 2005 South Africa 2005 Zimbabwe 2006 Tanzania 2006 Zimbabwe--vacation 2007 Zimbabwe--vacation 2008 Zimbabwe 2012 Australia 2013 South Africa 2013 Zimbabwe 2013 Australia 2016 Zimbabwe 2017 Zimbabwe 2018 South Africa 2018 Zimbabwe--vacation 2019 South Africa 2019 Botswana 2019 Zimbabwe vacation 2021 South Africa 2021 South Africa (2nd hunt a month later) ______________________________

Interesting to hear it didn't sell in Alaska. In Washington they have a cult following. Prices start at $1000 and go up from there. I have heard (but can't remember) the name of the place that sells them. Try doing a search on this site. I'll see if I can help locate on line too. You can also check www.gunpartscorp.com. I got my bottom metal there. Price was right. Fit was much better than the plastic. Never follow a bad move with a stupid move.

Thanks all and I will follow on the leads soon. Looks like my 350 m-600 is destined to be my Alaska beater rifle. Again, my thanks. I'll second what Hook said about Coquille Valley's M-600 trigger guard. I recently bought one for my Model 600 Mowhawk and it fit perfectly (not to mention that it is half the price of the Heritage guard sold by Brownell's). You can call your new gun a beater rifle if you want to, but I've never seen a Model 600 that wouldn't shoot lights out! I just rebarreled my old Mowhawk from .243 to .358 Win., and am in love with the 1/2-inch groups it produces!

Willie's Remington 600/660 bottom metal is THE BEST aftermarket unit on the market, anywhere, anytime, bar none.

Yep go with Willie; I run two of his metal bottom metals, one on a 600 and the other on a custom 660. They are a perfect fit.
