Does anyone have a pet load or two for a 140gr Accubond in the 7mm WSM.

With 140's I've gotten the best results with Norma MRP. Max in my rifle with 26" tube is around 70gr. Just under 3400 fps..With 140 Barnes triple shock 3350 is where it likes to be in this rifle 69 gr. Start with about 5 grains less...

Retumbo seems to be the powder for this cartridge. RL-25 would be good too.

I've loaded some test rounds with Re22 and W760. I have a couple of pounds of the retumbo that I use in my 300RUM so I will load a few with that as well. Thanks.

srose, what part of NC are you in. I live in Thomasville, NC.

According to quickload RL22 is the 2nd best powder for velocity and load density with 140 grain bullets behind Norma MRP. Retumbo seems to be to slow for the 140gr bullets requiring a load density of over 112% and still be 100 fps slower. If you can load to 116% it will really be fast according to the program almost as fast as max MRP loads. RL25 gives great velocity but load density is at 109%. RL22 and MRP have a load density right around 100% for max loads. This is just a computer program and is not the gospel but I have found it very close more times than not. You seem to be on the right track with RL22...

J stoviak...What does quickload show as the max load with Re22 with the 140gr Accubond? I looked at several sets of load data and a few showed 68gr as max and several others showed 71gr as max. I started at 68.5gr and went up a half grain at a time to 70.5gr and ran them over the chronograph today. The best group was at 68.5gr with a mv of 3155 with a group of .5". The bolt started to get sticky at 70.5gr at a mv of 3255.

Program is on my shop puter and I'm at home. In a 24" tube sounds about right for speed. Looks like you found your max accurate load with that lot of RL22 regardless of what quick load says. Going from memory around 70 point something gr was max. Same goes for max Norma MRP loads 70.something...Will confirm tomorrow..

If you can get MRP try it.... It is magic in 7mm and 270WSM. Lots say it is the same as RL22 but my experience is it is magic with 140 and 130 gr bullets in these 2 rounds...

I will look for some around here but I have rarely seen Norma powder. There is no good source of Accurate powder here either. I have had very good success using Re22 in several different calibers especially the 30-378 Wby.
