I just picked up a Kimber BGR in 280 Rem from a local guy. The rifle is in nice shape, great wood, has been bedded but doesnt look to be shot much.
It has a short serial number "SB 9E". It was made in Colton Oregon. Can anyone date this rifle for me? Any feedback on these guns?

Thanks,

I have 3; 375 H&H, 7MM Mag and a 30-06. The 30-06 was made in Colton. All mine are extremely reliable and good shooters.

They are very nice rifles. I had two beautiful BGRs: 7mm RM and a 30-06, both had the square bridges for scope rings.

Way back when I had one in 338 Win Mag. Sad to say it was a trouble gun. While the stock wood and checkering were very nice, the grip cap and ebony fore-end tip were poorly fitted. The rifle had a rough chamber, a soft sear, and was not correctly bedded. After a lot of time, effort, money and pain, I finally did get it shooting OK, bot no better than that. I believe quality issues with the M89 is what killed Kimber of Oregon. Having said all that, I hope yours is a good rifle and a good shooter.

Maybe that statement was a little pushy what Ishould of said the two model 89 that I have look good perform flawleesly and are very accurate and I can say that the many pre 64 win.I have owened all have shot very good to super good although a few needed re stocking.
