I'm Trying to decide between Black-T and falcon Coat for my new 300 wsm. It is SS Borden action with Rock Creek barrel.
Does anyone have any experince with either finish.
Thanks

I have been using a suppressor with "Cerakote" on it. That is what Falcon uses. There are two different versions of Cerakote. The ambient cure is sprayed on and allowed to cure at room temperature. It is designed for high heat applications (e.g. suppressor use, machine gun barrels, etc.). Good sratch and corrosion resistance. The second type of Cerakote is an oven cure system. The metal is prepped by blasting, the coating is applied (HVLP is best, I gave up on my mini-compressor) and baked. This stuff is not at all like Gun Kote or Dura Coat. Thinner layer, and much tougher. It is a ceramic matrix; slick and hard. It has been available for a few years now. Time will tell. So far, I am very impressed.

I don't know what is in Black-T (or Green-T) by Walt Birdsong. I have seen weapons five years after the Black-T was applied. They still looked very good despite hard use.

I don't think you would be dissapointed with either coating.

If you have the internal parts of your weapon coated you can throw the oil & grease applicators away.

I have several firearms and one knife that have been done in Black-T. Still look great after several years of use and one of them, over 10,000 rounds.
