Anyone loading these in a 270 Weatherby or WSM? Regards, Chuck "There's a saying in prize fighting, everyone's got a plan until they get hit" Michael Douglas "The Ghost And The Darkness"

Have not. the largest bullet Ive used in a .270 was the 170 gr. Speer, now discontinued, probably because it was a slow seller..It got me about 2700 to 2800 FPS and that big round nose bullet with lots of lead exposed was a decent killer for sure..I would expect the same from a 180 gr. Woodleigh at 2300 to 2400 FPS in a .270 and a bit faster in a 270 Wby..I would also check with Geoff at Woodleigh as Woodleigh bullets are velocity specific to certain calibers. But I see the .270 as flat shooting gun that performs as designed with a 130 to 160 gr. bullets. If I need more weight such as a 180 gr. bullit, I'll grab my 06 or 300 H&H, just speaking for myself. Thanks Ray, I've always used 150g Partitions in my 270 Win, now that I have a 270 Weatherby (very used) project rifle, I'm looking to shoot something a bit heavier. I wish Nosler made their 160g Partition in a spitzer instead of a semi-spitzer. Need a fast twist for those. Faster than factory, which is 1 in 10 inches. Need 1 in 9 or better 8. Which means custom barrel time. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

I know Mike, thanks. I was thinking of having Krieger true the action and put on a 1 in 8" twist featherweight barrel, and restocking it in a B&C synthetic stock thne CeraKoting the metal. The goal is an all weather elk rifle that weighs less than 7 lbs (without scope, rings, sling or ammo) that will reach out. https://www.stockysstocks.com/...luminum-bedding.html The only spitzer hunting bullets I have found that are 160g and heavier are the Berger 170g VLD and the Woodleigh 180 PP. I think I could probably manage 3000 fps from either. That 270 Weatherby case is just huge.
