Sounds like our local Sportsman's here. Nothing on the shelves.

akplsPretty much the same down Albuquerque way.

LamarI'm seeing a smattering of rifle bullets and a new name brand of plated pistol bullets in the reloading section.
the ammo section has been a hodge podge of stuff.
some 150gr. 30-06 ammo, a whole bunch of that new 6.8 westerner ammo [but no rifles, wtf?]
there's been some 9-40-45 type stuff from time to time, and occasionally a little bit of 10-12 cent each 22lr, sitting next to a pile of 17hmr [which was recently reduced down to just a few boxes by someone]

surefire7Same here in Colorado Sportsman Warehouse.
Ammo shelves are about 99% empty.

LeonardCThursday I managed to score some pistol primers at the local SWH. Only 3 were CCI and 7 were Fed.
The guy in front of me had a bunch of CCI and I told him I should have been 10 min. faster. He told me a guy in front of him at the shelve got a few CCI rifle primers.
And poof they were all gone!
No powder at all.

Beretta682EPeople are stocking up or hoarding.
I have managed to buy 2k 9mm, 750 10mm, 500 - 223, 6.5 and 308. All at academy and bass pro at prices 10-20 percent higher than 2019 prices.
Ammo wholesale prices are up as commodity components.
Lots of ammo is being made and all of it is being bought.
I don’t see it ending soon but I also don’t see anything fundamental or structural issue.
I would not pay gun broker or gun show prices for ammo. But if ammo is available I would buy ammo at academy or bass pro.

Lamarthe ammo shelves are a bit fuller today, and there was a few different powders [3031-4064 type stuff] at 37.99 a LB.
there was even a Jug of BMG-50 sitting there.
plain jane federal 150gr. 30-06 ammo was like $42 a box.
they did have some 223 stuff [win white box] at airc 15$ per 20.
they can keep it all at those prices.

At academy 308 federal soft points are like $24 a box.
Used to be $18.
Federal has increased pricing 10-15 percent. I assume academy has marked it up another 5-10 above normal mark up.
I am surprised how good bass pro has been. Normally they were known for higher ammo prices than academy but both seem in line these days.
At one of the world’s largest indoor ranges in Orlando there was no shortage of shooters burning $1 9mm ammo.

LHeym500No ammo around here. One store wanted 70 dollars bf tax for 3 inch 12 gauge.
I have been lucky finding 10 gauge at fair price.

Beretta682EJust for context
Bass pro in Orlando has gotten shipments of 60-70k 9mm. They normally sell out in a day.
Academy often has massive lots of 556 green tips. I think they are way overpriced at $.65 a round.
A lot of ammo is being made and is being imported.
Eventually the panic buying will stop. I just feel like an idiot for have more 458 Lott than 9mm ammo at the start of this craziness.

NormanConquestTheres no doubt about shortages + a lot of it is panic buying of course. I understand that the primer shortage is due to the fact that they are under contract to supply the ammo mfgs. before selling the overrun to the public.
Never mistake motion for action.

Beretta682EI went to Costco. Forgetting it was Easter and Costco was closed. Academy opens at 11 instead of 9. There was a line of 50 people at 10:30. Went to IKEA and came back. Bought 200 rounds of 9mm and one box of 6.5 hornady black.
Only ammo that never gets sold is 35 whellen.
But there is no shortage of ammo coming in. It just not stay on the shelf very long.

I've been in several SWs between WA and NV and all of them are sitting on a pile of Remington 7X64 for $36 - been onthe shelves for 2+ months. Not sure what the ordering folks. Too bad I traded my beautiful Sako AV in 7X64. lol

I used to own a couple of rifles in 7x64. One was a Parker-Hale and the other a Remington Model 700 ADL. I shot a lot of their green and yellow box 7x64 ammo and it was good stuff.

I need to call them ... i love 7x64
I was in the Sportsman's Warehouse store in Grand Junction, CO today. They seem to be getting more ammunition and a few bullets, but no powder or primers. The had lowered the price on the Remington 7x64 ammunition from $36.99 a box to $29.97. I really like my 7x64 but just shoot handloads.

MARK H. YOUNGInteresting: Same here in Vegas. SW had 18 boxes of Rem 140gr 7x64 on the shelves. Even though I do not have a 7x64 I thought about buying some just in case.....

eezridrWe have dove season coming on in two months and have seldom seen typical field loads on the shelf.
Appears to be plenty of the higher cost target shells (AA's and STS) which are actually better but 30% more expensive.
28 ga are more available than 20's around my neck of the woods.
I have noted a slight increase in some RCBS products and the outfit that sells Nosler seconds.
Powder is still absent. Brass is here and there.
I really hope those that are hoarding this ammo and reloading components or attempting to scalp it end up choking on it.

PuddleSW must have gobbled up all the 7x64 Brenneke available as that was the only big game ammo stocked at the local store's shelves for the longest time.
Now things are improving ever so slightly each month with additional cartridges from more brands.
