Does anyone know the maker and model of the bolt rifle Coronel Patterson (Val Kilmer) used in the movie "The Ghost and the Darkness". It looks to me like a Lee Enfield 303 sporter of some kind. I think it would be a neet rifle to reproduce.

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

You don't need to reproduce it, the real thing turns up from time to time.
From memory it was a (?BSA) sporter, made on a lee-enfield action with the speed dust cover, and the safety moved from the left side of the action to the right side of the bolt.
There is a pic on one of the forums, I cannot remember which one, perhaps the African forum?

Cheers, Dave.

Lee Enfield (presumably .303) with dust cover.

The rifle on the African forum is very similar, but not identicle. The rifle in the movie seemed sleeker and more refined. Alf posted a 1935 BSA catalogue with his rifle. The events in the movie supposedly occured 1898-99. Films do, however, often get their historical firearms wrong.

I think the short magazine gives the movie rifle a sleeker look to me, and the movie rifle seems to have a slightly shorter forend without an ebony tip. A little more to my tast. Your rifle is extremeley cool though.

Is it just my old eyes, or did the bore on the rifle in G and the D appear to be larger than a .303?
