I just recently bought a Husqvarna Mauser in 9.3x57 and was wanting to get some load information. Other than what might be in Cartridges of the World would any of you guys that use it please post some loads (across the bullet spectrum) for the x57? Also, who's got dies? I might punch it out to 9.3x62 one day, but I think I will play with it like this first. Thanks in advance.

The Norma relaoding site has data for Norma powders across the widest range of bullets. You can interpolate to other powders with a good current burn rate chart.

Personally I don't see a point in shooting the lighter bullets fast in the 9.3x57. It made its' bones with the 286 grain bullet at a modest 2000-2100 fps, just like the 30-40 Krag did its' best work with 220 grain bullets at about the same speed..

I can because I have QuickLoad. Maybe I shouldn't recommend it for anyone else. But even before QL I have been able to adjust starting loads with similar burn rates and work up. I guess I'm either Einstein or stupid. Take your pick.

Oh yea, I forgot about QL. I'm sure that helps. I've just known some reloaders who think interpolation is OK -- rampently. They seem to get away with it though, with maybe a blown primer or heavy bolt lift sometimes, which they consider part of the game.

I have interpolated very little. Limited to W760 and H414, IMR 4895 and H4895, and few others for example, and I have used 358 Norma loads to estimate starting loads in my 9.3x338, but I don't take it for granted. It's just not a good habit to get into, IMO, caution is my advice.

What I'm saying is that I like to use loads published in a load manual from lab tested data. Of course that's scarce for the 9.3x57, which is the root of this discussion. I would also like to see some loads from others, since I'll be hand loading for my 9.3x57 someday.

That is some funky info! 3031 is the norm. I use IMR4064. It works great. You can use 9x57 or .358 Win load data. Factor in case capacity. Start low.

The load I used in the old spud thrower was,
48.0 grains W-748
Speer 270 grain bullet
Norma cases CCI L/R primer.
This was a nice load to shoot and accurate.

Oldun,
Thanks for the info. Any idea on the velocity? I didn't realize it was going to be so hard to get a load posted. Thanks again.

Take a look through the Swedish Civilian Arms Board, lots of good 9,3x57 info there.

This is the best advice you can get. They just made a stickey of all the posts on reloading the 9.3x57, yesterday, and there is a lot of detailed information there.

standard disclaimer applies

46 grains H335 with privi partisan 285gr bullet in resized WW 8mm mauser cases and fed 210 primer =2070fps (factory duplication load) in my husky with excellent accuracy.

50-51.0 of the same powder with the speer 270 works well too.

Thanks Dave...
I need a load that will shoot to my sights and it sounds like your load will work....
